Requirements

If you intend to pursue a BBA with a major or minor in accounting, you’re encouraged to enroll in the PPA Seminar course, ACCT 30101, during the fall semester of your junior year. The formal PPA application process will be conducted during the PPA Seminar.

Seniors who have not yet applied to PPA must apply no later than September 15 during the fall semester of their senior year. Contact us at PPAccounting@tcu.edu to discuss requirements for senior applicants. Applications not received by this deadline will be processed along the same guidelines as non-TCU students applying to the MAc program.

If you have not earned a BBA at TCU Neeley, you’ll need to provide evidence that you have completed a comparable program and pre-requisite courses that meet the accreditation standards of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA). Pre-requisite courses must be taught in accordance with U.S. GAAP, U.S. tax law, and U.S. PCAOB/AICPA auditing standards, as our MAc curriculum builds heavily on these concepts. You must successfully complete the courses with an average GPA of 3.0 or higher.

International students are REQUIRED to submit TOEFL scores if English is not the official language of your country of permanent residence.

Minimum required TOEFL scores:

• Internet-based test (IBT): 100
• Computer-based test (CBT): 250
• Paper-based test (PBT): 600

Minimum required PTE score: 68

Due to the time needed to process international paperwork, consideration for admission and financial assistance is given to applications received by January 15 for students intending to first enroll in the Fall semester. After this date, we will consider applications on a space-available basis.

All international applicants must also complete the following:

1. I-20 Request Form (completed by department).
2. Copy of International Student and Scholar Form (filled out by student).
3. Copy of TCU Application for Admission.
4. Copy of the student’s admission letter.
5. Copy of the student’s scholarship, assistantship or award letter(s) if any.
6. Transfer verification form if student is presently studying in the United States.
7. Student Financial Statement (completed and signed by student and sponsor, if any).
8. Copy of the sponsor's bank statements for the past six months specifying monthly averages sufficient to cover the student's total annual program cost, less scholarship, grants or awards if any, or original letter from bank in letterhead, specifying the sponsor's monthly average balance for the past six months, specifying currency. These documents require an official English translation. If no currency is specified, we will assume the amount shown is in the student's country currency and we will make the conversion to US dollars.
9. Proof of the sponsor's employment and monthly salary (requires English translation).

Our 30-hour MAc program is designed to build upon your undergraduate accounting education to meet the CPA-eligibility requirements of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.

Requirements include:

• 30 hours upper-level accounting
• 24 hours upper-level business (no more than 6 hours per subject matter)
• 2 hours state-approved research
• 2 hours state-approved communications
• 3 hours state-approved ethics

Together with an undergraduate degree in accounting, or an undergraduate degree and the required accounting course prerequisites, the TCU MAc program is designed to meet the CPA eligibility education requirements of the following states and governing bodies:

• California – California Board of Accountancy
• Colorado – Colorado Board of Accountancy
• District of Columbia – District of Columbia Board of Accountancy
• New York – New York State Board of Public Accountancy

It is important to meet with the MAc program advising team when evaluating CPA eligibility education requirements for the state in which you plan to sit for the exam.
