Accounting Today ranked TCU Neeley’s Department of Accounting No. 12 in the nation out of 529 institutions for CPA exam success – and No. 9 among 248 large accounting programs – according to its 2024 CPA Success Index.

“We are pleased with this ranking,” said Bill Wempe, chair of the Accounting Department. “This high ranking is especially important because it is based on objective and verifiable outcomes that are highly relevant to students’ career success, rather than on survey respondents’ feelings or perceptions. The ranking reflects the accounting faculty’s highest priority, which is helping students be successful; TCU students and parents and our employer partners deserve nothing less.”

The index, now in its fifth year, is widely regarded as one of the most meaningful benchmarks in accounting education. It measures how well institutions prepare students to pass all four sections of the CPA exam within the critical 18-month window – a requirement for licensure and a key milestone for launching successful careers.

The ranking places Neeley among the most elite accounting programs in the country – alongside top-tier institutions such as Texas A&M, the University of Texas-Austin, and Notre Dame – demonstrating the school’s commitment to student excellence and career readiness.

TCU’s position in the top 12, out of more than 500 programs, confirms what students, alumni and employers already know: a Neeley accounting degree is a launchpad for career success. Backed by a rigorous curriculum, personalized faculty mentorship and deep ties to the business community, Neeley’s accounting program continues to deliver exceptional outcomes.

The department of accounting at Neeley is known for blending academic rigor with experiential learning. Students benefit from expert faculty with professional accounting experience, and employer partners’ provision of CPA exam preparation resources. The program also provides opportunities for internships, networking and career development through the Professional Program in Accounting, in partnership with the Professional Development Center and major CPA firms.

As the demand grows for accountants who bring both technical expertise and leadership potential, TCU Neeley graduates continue to stand out. Neeley’s ability to consistently produce high-performing, CPA-ready professional positions the school as a model of excellence in accounting education – and a trusted source of talent for the industry.
