Leaders from more than 30 schools collaborated on the TCU campus to share ideas and best practices with their colleagues from other AACSB-accredited business schools.

This summer, the TCU Neeley IT Department hosted the Technology in Business Schools Roundtable (TBSr) conference, an annual gathering of the Technology in Business Schools (TBS) organization. The global group is composed of individuals who are IT directors, assistant deans of technology, or associate deans of technology in AACSB-accredited business schools. Led by Chuck Miller, Director of IT at TCU Neeley, the school hosted technology leaders from more than 30 institutions of higher education.
The Technology in Business Schools Roundtable provides an opportunity to network with other members, learn about IT topics of interest, interact with IT vendors on new technologies, and see the facilities of other business schools.
“The conference programming showcased top-tier content for leaders in higher education technology in our 225,000 square feet of modern, new facilities,” said Miller. “Attendees also built stronger networking ties as they experienced the thriving entertainment scene and business growth in the city of Fort Worth. We were also please to provide them with a taste of Texas: barbecue, Tex-Mex and a trip to Billy Bob's.”
The business of higher education technology continues to grow more complex. The programming for the conference was broadly relevant, covering hot emerging topics and nuts-and-bolts foundational areas, as well as prioritizing peer discussion time, to arm professionals for success as they head into the new academic year. Session topics included ChatGPT and other AI, learning management systems, data analytics, hiring and retaining IT staff and more.
“I found the TBSr 2023 Annual Meeting at the Neeley School of Business extremely interesting and informative,” said Connie Buechele, University of Minnesota, Carlson School IT Director and Law School IT Director. “Some of my favorite topics and discussions included AI in Academia, Effective Meetings, Diversity & Inclusiveness, and Data Analytics, Visualization and Reporting. Thank you to the Neeley IT team, the TBSr Board and the sponsors for putting together a great conference.”
David Kohnke, the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business Senior IT Director, described leaders at TCU Neeley as gracious hosts who made TBSr a welcoming and beneficial event.
“The sessions, networking and events were all well planned and incredibly engaging,” said Kohnke. “The focus on networking and sharing ideas has helped me better understand the impact that artificial intelligence will have on higher education and how IT leaders can support faculty, staff and students as these technologies continue to evolve and become more prevalent.”
