TCU Neeley’s Department of Accounting continues to shine on the national and international stage, as four outstanding students earn prestigious honors that reflect the program’s excellence and its focus on preparing students for meaningful careers.

Three accounting majors – Kathryn Adams, Ruston Farrington, and Alexis Hernandez – this summer were named Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholars for the 2025-2026 academic year. Funded by the PCAOB, the scholars program recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence and a strong commitment to the profession. Each scholar receives a $15,000 scholarship.

Selection for the PCAOB Scholars Program is highly competitive. Accounting faculty nominate top-performing students who show exceptional promise in the field, and recipients are chosen through a rigorous process that evaluates academic achievement, ethical character, and leadership potential. This year’s selection is a testament not only to the talent of these students but also to the strength of TCU’s accounting curriculum and its emphasis on professional readiness.

In another standout recognition this summer, accounting major AJ Chen was selected to attend KPMG’s Global Advantage Program in Lisbon, Portugal – a prestigious international leadership experience designed for top university talent. Chen was one of only 100 students selected from seven countries to participate in the 2025 program.

“This experience taught me so many great leadership skills, and I can’t wait to start my 2026 internship,” said Chen.

Shana Clor-Proell, the chair of the Accounting Department and an accounting professor, said, “These honors reflect the caliber of students we attract and the kinds of opportunities that await them in our program. Whether through national recognition like the PCAOB Scholarship or global exposure through KPMG’s programs, our students are consistently distinguishing themselves and representing TCU with excellence.”

The accounting major at TCU Neeley is designed to prepare students for dynamic careers through a powerful combination of academic rigor, faculty mentorship, and hands-on learning. Students benefit from access to internship opportunities and career development through the Professional Program in Accounting (PPA), a five-year program that allows students to simultaneously earn a BBA in Accounting and a master's degree, and partnerships with leading firms and organizations.

The achievements of Adams, Farrington, Hernandez, and Chen illustrate the depth of talent within the program and the world of opportunity that awaits those who pursue accounting at TCU.
