Poets&Quants for Undergrads announced today that Neeley School of Business Professor David Weltman was selected for its list of the 50 Best Undergraduate Business Professors of 2025. The annual ranking spotlights top educators across the country whose teaching excellence and real-world relevance elevate the undergraduate business experience.

The standout faculty milestone places Weltman among the most impactful business professors in the nation.

Weltman, a professor of supply chain practice at Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business, is known for blending industry knowledge, academic rigor and a deep commitment to student success. Before joining TCU, he held analytics and operations roles at major corporations, and he brings that real-world perspective directly into the classroom. Students describe his courses in fields such as supply chain analytics, business statistics and data science as challenging, hands-on and immediately applicable to their internships and careers.

His influence extends beyond the classroom. Weltman has coached Neeley student teams to top finishes in national business analytics competitions, including multiple first-place rankings against universities from across the country. Judges consistently praise his teams for their analytical depth, clarity of insights and professionalism.

“In their evaluations, his students self-identify as very well equipped with skills that exceed those from other leading business schools across the country,” according to one of Weltman’s nomination forms. “He has received numerous student letters that not only thank him but also specifically credit their successful career placement to his instruction of leading-edge techniques.”

Weltman is also a respected scholar, with peer-reviewed research focused on decision-making and behavioral analytics. He has 15 publications and his work has been cited more than 500 times, knowledge Weltman uses to continuously refine his curriculum to reflect emerging trends in analytics and supply chain strategy.

At TCU, Weltman has been repeatedly recognized for excellence in teaching and mentorship. He was named the 2024 Outstanding Honors Professor and was the school’s nominee for TCU’s university-wide undergraduate teaching award.

Weltman was selected through Poets&Quants’ rigorous national review process, which this year included more than 1,200 nominations from students, alumni, colleagues and administrators. After narrowing the pool to nearly 200 nominees, the editorial team evaluated each professor based on research influence and teaching excellence.

The publication weighted teaching most heavily, examining student support, mentorship, innovative instruction and school service. Research assessment considered citation impact, media recognition and contributions to industry and the academic field. Weltman’s exceptional performance across both areas earned him a place on the 2025 list.
