TCU Neeley’s Executive MBA Class of 2023 celebrated one of their own when Newy Scruggs won two Emmy Awards for television sports shows produced on NBC 5 (KXAS-TV). It took some coaxing by Professor Gregg Lehman, but Scruggs brought the Emmys to class last month for a show-and-tell moment.
Students in Lehman’s Regulatory Environment for Entrepreneurs and Executives class gathered for a quick photo at the end of one of their classes last month and congratulated Scruggs on the honor.
Scruggs, who is the NBC 5 Sports Director, was awarded an Emmy in the sports anchor category for “Call Newy Scruggs Mr. Football.” A second Emmy Award was awarded to Scruggs, the producer and director for “Dak Save the Day Against Belichick’s Patriots” in the Sportscast category.
Scruggs has previously been awarded multiple Emmy Award as a sportscaster. He’s been with NBC 5 (KXAS-TV) since April 2000 and his experience includes anchoring television sportscasts, hosting radio talk shows, color commentating football and basketball, as well as news writing.
