Dec. 6, 2024, in Rees-Jones Hall
The annual Social Impact Design Challenge, founded in 2016, empowers TCU students to start ventures that change the world for the better. You’ll gain practical insights about starting and growing a venture through the lens of social entrepreneurship, leveraging design thinking to enhance your idea and using real-world data to show the cause-and-effect relationship between the venture and its potential positive impact.

The Social Impact Design Challenge takes place each December in Rees-Jones Hall. You should prepare a presentation under seven minutes long and based on the Guy Kawasaki pitch deck.

As you prepare your pitch, we encourage you to take advantage of our more casual Pitch Your Passion event and to consider scheduling office hours with Cedric James. These are opportunities to run your ideas past other students and professionals for early feedback and brainstorming.

Eligibility: You must be a TCU student, and your social impact idea should be in its early stages. There is no entry fee.

Awards and Prizes: Funding up to $2,500

The judges will evaluate each social impact idea based on the following:

  1. Content of the plan, including thoughtfulness and inspiration
  2. Effective use of research information, “empathy work”
  3. Clear communication
  4. Probability of successful launch
  5. Effective use and impact of the prize money
